My daughter celebrates her eighth birthday this weekend. And, in those eight wonderful years, she's managed to pack in a lot of living. She has called three different countries, on three different continents, home. She has welcomed two younger brothers with wide open arms. She has passionately embraced the cultures in which she has lived-- in a way that says "This is completely normal." She has filled endless journals with happily crazed made-up creatures and wildly imagined stories. She's firmly decided to tell the truth... always. She is deeply and utterly connected to her family. And, she's infectiously delivered more spunk into my life than I ever thought was possible. I'm greatly looking forward to her birthday and reminding her why she is so fantastically amazing.
But, before the weekend's celebrations begin, there are a few items on my to-do list:
- Finish baking and frost cupcakes for school
- Buy/select next book
- Buy gummie (maybe that should actually say gummy?) fangs
- Pack up/go through baby clothes
Late night update: cupcakes complete and ready for delivery tomorrow!
