on this date.

10 September 2011
Today is my parent's wedding anniversary. My wish for them, and for many others marking this day in history, is that today be fully embraced. Hug someone a bit tighter. Bring flowers to a neighbor. Skype with those far away. Bake something special. Take your child by the hand, look into their eyes and tell them that they are amazing. Buy the person in line behind you a cup of coffee. Draw a smile on a sticky note and leave it on a mirror for someone to find. Tell your partner in life that you adore, adore, adore them. Walk out into that weather, regardless of rain or shine, and twirl. Take out the earphones and listen to the sounds around you. Fully embrace this day.

I lost my wife 10 years ago today. We lived as expats in Europe before moving to NYC with our two children now 17 and 14. My wife would have enjoyed reading your blog. While I'm reading I remember how wonderful that time was. My oldest daughter is enjoying your blog too. Thank you for this message and happy anniversary to your parents. Sincerely, Ed

Thank you. I needed to read a positive post today. The awful images are already repeating here in the U.S. (and I'm up early!). We need to remember to express kindness.

You brought tears into my eyes. My husband left for a business trip before I got time to tell him that I adore him. But for sure, my daughter will hear several times during the evening that she is amazing !

My husband died in the attacks. I was on my way to bring him a cup of coffee when the plane hit. I got out. He didn't. Thank you for encouraging us to spend today this way. We never know what tomorrow will bring.

I love you, Shelby!

Why does everyone think they must say something today? It's been 10 years.

I had to say something when I saw the previous comment. IT HAS BEEN 10 YEARS OF LIVING HELL FOR THOSE OF US WHO LOST SOMEONE WHEN THE TOWERS COLLAPSED. I shake my head in disbelief that anyone could make a comment like the one above.
